This probably belongs in general discussion, but I'll post it here anyway. I've had two Streamlight TLR-3 lights that I had mounted on a XD-40 subcompact, and a 4 inch XD-45.... Neither one has lasted longer than a year before the left rail broke. I have only used my fingers to tighten them, needless to say I'm ticked. The full size TLR-1, TLR-1s, TLR-2 (multiple of each) that I use on the rifles and larger pistols don't break. What I need is a viable alternative for the subcompact and 4 inch XD's and Glock's I own. What have you guys had success with????

I've heard of some of the guys running Streamlights using a paperclip to tighten the screw until the paperclip bends. As for me, I run an Insight XTI Procyon that doesn't have a set screw. Great little light. They still make it, but it's not called an XTI Procyon anymore. I think it's the WX150.

This light is still the same the same size as my TLR-1 which is too long for my sub-compacts..

This one is as long as my TLR-1 as well. The TLR -1 or 2 works well and I own several including a few of the s models with the strobe function. They are awesome and I have never had a breakage problem with them, only the TLR-3 and I would suspect the TLR-4 would be the same.... I need a short light to fit on the compact and subcompacts I own, including getting one for the XD-9 I gave my sister for her birthday, well and one for the MP-22 pistols I gave her at the same time.......

Has anybody tried the Crimson Trace light for compacts yet????
