| I'm thinking about a behind the barrel suppressor for an OBR. Does anyone know how far the barrel extends past the rail on a 12" 5.56 OBR? TIA |

It's exactly 2 inches from end of barrel to beginning of the rail/sb on the 12 inch sbr. I had the same intention and talked to Shane the other day, he measured one in the safe. Surefire needs 2.75 inches of clearance for their reflex. Thanks. I pulled out my LaRuler and did some Jethro Bodine-like cyphering using the picture on the LaRue Site and thought it was about 2.5 inches since the flash hider screws in and over the end of the barrel. I guess the Surefire behind the barrel option is out since the gas block is right at the end of the rail. I thought about calling LaRue, but I wanted them busy building my rifle, not busy answering a question. |

A couple years ago when the OBR Lite came out, I checked to see if you could mount an AAC SPR Blackout can on the 12" SBR. I'm pretty sure it needed at least 2.5". IIRC the 2" clearance from the rail to the end of the barrel is about what I measured.
And AAC no longer makes that reflex SPR can and mount so it's a moot point with AAC. I am seriously considering ordering an OBR Lite SBR. I would love to put one of the new Surefire SOCOM cans (end mount) and mounts on it. MIght be a while before they hit the civilian market though. The indexing mount is very well thought-out.
