I'm just wondering what range do most of you find yourself shooting with either Weapon Systems. I know the 20in OBR is good for atleast 1000 per Todd Hodnet and most likely with him behind the gun further. I am just wondering on the 16in. Has anyone attempted a few 800-1000 yd shots with the 16in? Any help will be greatly appreciated. My 5 year anniversary is coming up and the MRS has given me the OK on a Future Purchase on another FINE LT Rifle. So now my wheels are spinning on which one to get.
Thanks Ladies & Gentlemen |

Thanks Ladies & Gentlemen To answer your question. We go to best of the west range in Liberty Hill, Texas about once every 2 months or so (probably less now since summer is rollin' around). My buddy and I both run 16" OBRs and consistently shoot to 1000 reliably. We are shooting 175 FGGM and some other assorted 175 grain loads. I also have my AI in 20". I get slightly less drop with the elevation and the extra velocity helps a bit with wind. I had an 18" OBR but got rid of it for a 16". I couldn't be happier. Also, the 2" off the barrel length makes the suppressor mounted length of the gun seem sooo much shorter. |
| Appreciate the responses. I don't know why but for some reason I am leaning towards the 16in. I have a 20in Bolt gun in 308 and I have an 18in 5.56 PredatAR. I'm thinking I may have to wait for a range day or something to try out both weapon systems. I'd hate to purchase a 20in and kick my self in the ACE because I like the 16 better and vice versa. Anyone within 2 hours of Houston that wouldn't mind me cheekin your weapon system I would be forever grateful. I don't even need to fire it, I just want to get behind it and see how she feels. |
