Hey all, I figured I'd post here instead of bothering the shop folks with my question as I know some of you have an LT RE. I received mine today (ordered 12/6 and well worth the wait!). After installation of the RE and slapping a standard collapsible stock body (from BCM) I noticed something I thought was odd. The RE has numbers on the top (2-6) which are seen through the hole in the top of the stock body so you can always get your stock to the same position. My issue is when the stock is completely closed the number 5 is seen in the hole. You back it up one position and the number 6 is showing. Any position after that there is no markings shown. So the positioning of the numbers make 2-4 useless. Are your RE's like this? I would think the numbers would start further back so they could all be used. This seems to defeat the purpose. Or am I missing something? Possibly other stock bodies have the hole in a location further up? Any insight would be appreciated.

ETA: maybe I am an idiot and you are supposed to look at the number in font of the stock body and not in the hole?

Same with my LMT SOPMOD stock.  Never noticed it but that's because your third photo is how I'm set up, so no number.

It tighten everything rock solid.  I like mine.

 FIFY.

I would say use the reference number at the edge of the stock.  Some stocks don't have the little "peephole", so it would defeat the purpose of numbering the RE.

I don't own an LT RE, just thinking out loud...

Only one I have with numbers is from PWS.  Lines up perfectly 1-6 in the window on my LMT SOPMOD though.

Yeah, it's just forward. Besides, even my stock did have the hole my Larue RISR would cover the hole.

The hole in the stock is for ease of insertion/removal of the pin that engages the multiple positions in the track on the bottom of the receiver extension. As someone else has already mentioned, reference the number at the leading edge of the stock as a RISR or similar accessory would obscure any 'witness hole' if it were there for that purpose. None of my receiver extensions have that numbering but, then again, I haven't bought one from LaRue yet.

I wonder if different stock manufacturers position the holes in the top of the stock in different places?

The hole will line up with the pin that engages the notches on the bottom. So the hole will be in a similar place on all stocks. If they move it too far, you wouldn't be able to use all the notches on the RE.
