Was there an official attendance number for Range Day?
I've heard different numbers speculated, but it seems like the only accurate count would be the release forms. Any word on the count? |

Mark. What was the official total headcount? One of these days, I'll try to make it. Fingar said 4,000 at one point but I don't think there were that many. 6,000 tacos were eaten and I saw people walking around with literally a dozen or so tacos in an NRA bag. CM It was great meeting you all! No official head-count...but (best guess) we had a bit over 2000 shooters this year. Last year, we were just short of 4000 total visitors, but most folks only stayed for a free meal and a window lick, or two..and left. Making it a paid-event kept the majority of non-shooters, non-gun guys out this year. Now, we've got to figure out how to make the lines shorter next year. Thanks you all for coming out an supporting the event! |

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time.
My suggestions for next year: Get straight to the point during the raffles. They would cease fire during the raffles and it really cut into the shooting time. Helicopters and skydivers are cool, but getting to shoot every gun at every demo range would have been even cooler. I think the lines would move faster if on the signs for the demos it explained what weapon and features on the weapon were being demoed, and what you would be doing in the demo. That would save the range officers from having to explain it to every shooter thus saving time. If your ole lady, friends, family etc. ain't into shooting, don't bring them(I am guilty of this one). The time to learn how to shoot is not at range day. I've never seen so many ladies standing while leaning on one hip with their arms folded in my life. Thank God for the raffle tickets (wife loves to gamble) or my wife would have been harping on me to leave. |
