I just bought Da Torch from TNVC, very nice, but don't really like the mount that comes with it. All my mounts are QD Larue mounts and was wondering my options here. Has anyone here used this IR light and changed the mount? Any help would be great, really wish to just have Larue mounts on all my good stuff |

I too have Da Torch and found the Rusky mount a clusterf**k. I had the barrel of the light turned down to .825 and use the 607 mount with an .830 ring to have an illuminator and designator setup with a converted Beamshot to IR.

Taking a look at your light and the mounts LT has on their site, you could absolutely replace the stock mount. The problem is replicating the elevation/windage adjustment. Nothing that I could find on the site has this feature built-in but that doesn't mean it isn't there and it doesn't mean that it's not something LT offers to .mil only. It would be pretty tough to get-by without the adjustment, especially if you're using it for it's long distance intended purpose. I'd imagine that the beam has a very narrow focus so that it can illuminate targets at distance, which would also mean even the least deviation could put it completely off your weapon with optic's POI and render it mostly useless except in open terrain. Just my opinion, YMMV.

ETA: Oh yeah, I am pretty sure that's exactly what he means. As long as the case isn't too thinly-walled, it shouldn't be a problem. Well, until you send it in for warranty work and they need to replace it. Maybe they'd be cool enough to re-use the barrel with all the new guts? Never know 'til you ask. :0)
Im not sure what you mean by having the barrel turned down. Are you saying you shaved the light it self? |

That's right. I turned down the body behind the adjustable objective, if you will.
I've just mounted it in the 607 but haven't zeroed the laser/illuminator setup yet. Observation about adjustability is correct. I will be shimming inside the rings to achieve correct aimpoint. This is the only downfall to this particular solution. When I get a chance, I'll post a pic to illustrate after I get zeroed. Cheers, U2AV8R |

I was hoping to replace the mount and keeping the adjustment of the light. I figured someone has done it already, and they would of done it here. |

Thanks for the replys everyone. |
