Fake.

Look at the bag it came in too. All larue items come in the same type of bags with the same type of sticker marking what it is.

I sent him a message letting him know I would give him some time to either amend the listing or pull it. Could just be an honest mistake but we will see what his response is before I shoot ebay a message.

I sent him a message explaining all of the differences and then giving him a link to what he actually has, which is a $30 airsoft copy.

"ALL of Larue's mounts come stamped on the under side with the model designation. "

I've been buying LaRue stuff for a long time and one thing remains constant. That the mount they sell this year will be slightly different than the mount they sold last year or the mount they will sell next year. Hell my early LaRue mounts have in the white throw levers that are rather rough shaped, with no oil holes or locking levels. LaRue products constantly evolve so terms like "ALL" should be avoided.

I agree that the packaging indicates this specific mount is a forgery though.

I emailed him and he got back to me.

He pulled it and put it back up as a fake for $50 with free shipping.

Does this show up on the listing for anyone else?

On Feb-03-11 at 08:39:00 PST, seller added the following information:

nice realize that must really suck to hear but its not worth more then $30. All real LaRue mounts come in plastic baggies with paper stickers with the name of the item printed on it. There is also a LaRue wrench included.

The biggest indicator that your mount is fake is that the bottom of the mount will have USA stamped on the bottom.
[–– seller paid $50.00 free shipping. thank for all your help.

He copied and pasted the bold part from my message to him.

I ended up with a fake LT 104 mount after my girlfriend ordered one for my birthday recently.  Obviously she had no idea what to look for and God bless her, she felt really bad after I told her it was a fake (not to mention all the money she was out).

When you actually  hold one in your hands it's pretty easy to tell that it's a knock-off.  The main things are no markings on the bottom, no oil holes on the top, the nuts aren't the same size as the OEM nuts, the screw holes for the rings are only threaded one direction (not every other one opposite like OEM) and the logos/markings are a brighter white.  Not to mention when you hold it in your hands and move the QD cams, its apparent how shitty they feel compared to the real deal.

Ya gotta love a woman who supports your love of shooting....no matter what!

That would never happen in our house!  lol  I've been rackin' my brain trying to think of something to use it for though...it makes a great paperweight on my desk right now but I know there's so much more it could be doing..... maybe do a fake LaRue mount torture test?

Mark -

Have you looked in to  Ebays VeRO program?  It should let you take down fake items and items that spam the LaRue name on items that are not LaRue.

Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/programs-vero-ov.html

It shouldn't take too much effort to identify repeat offenders.  The great thing about it is it would cut in to Ebay's and antigun Paypal's profits.

unfortunetly ebay is the smallest front for fake LT products.

A little searching on the web and there are hundreds of airsoft websites that sell a fakes of everything LaRue. From the FUG to the flashlight mounts. Some ship from the USA, but most ship straight from china.

There are thousands of licensed airsoft guns and parts, but unfortunetly LaRue is one of the brands they have made without approval.

For the ultimate airsoft poser...

GO to places like Redwolf Airsoft or Wargamers Club; they have hundreds of knockoffs from reputable companies like Larue; eBay, like stated is just the tip of the iceberg.

$196.00! That's insane! Even if the real thing. LaRues are $195.00 to $215.00, brand new and you'll probably get some swag with it.
