Pack,

I'm having a decision making disorder and I need the help of the Laruminati.

I'm looking to buy/put together a Perimeter Defense Rifle (PDR) and I am leaning towards an 18" Stealth system.  I want a rifle that I can make precision shots with out to 600 yds, possibly suppress out beyond that, but I need first round hits at 600 yds.  The ability to run suppressed and also to drop a Hog also need to be considered, my Wife's Uncle has a huge spread out in Canyon Lake––New Braunfels, TX and occasionally needs to deal with Javelinas and feral pigs, etc.  So, I would like to endear myself to the family by doing some good killing out there for them.  And what rifle better than a Stealth system made in the dead center of Texas, America?

Anyway, I spoke with my guru and spiritual guide Travis Haley about it and all he would say (over and over) was "Dude just get an OBR."  I told him that while I understand that the OBR is awesome, I don't want to drop the money on the new rifle as well as on all the .308 ammo and magazines that I will need to go with said awesome .308 rifle.  So, for the moment I am married to the 5.56 unless somebody can give me some really good facts, figures, arguments for going the OBR route.

Okay, that's it....... I'm listening.

1) First round hits @ 600 yards, Highest probability of success = OBR
2) Drop a Hog = OBR
3) To me this question actually says "What IS a better rifle than a Stealth system THAT IS made in the dead center of Texas, America? = OBR

A wise old shooter once told me to always aim for the highest probability point of aim vs. point of impact, "Center mass, F*ck the head"
With the facts provided, deep down inside, you want us to talk you into an OBR
If you can make it work, create an OBR fund  Im currently in that "saving up for it" status right now.

Travis Haley is wise... the oracle has spoken...
But since we are on ARFCOM... Get Both!

If your looking for first shot drop power the 762 would be the way to go.

I have an 18" complete stealth and a 18" OBR and 9.5 times out of 10 the OBR is the go to rifle.

OBR in .308 is ALWAYS the answer.

Next question.

OBR without question, for all the reasons listed above, and all the ones to follow

You already have the answer, and from what you said you are looking for out of a rifle, my vote goes towards an OBR.

OBR 5.56 sounds like the best of both worlds. Watched a 16" OBR 5.56 shooting FGMM 77gr hit steel at 750 yds (then shot my 18" OBR to 1000 with FGMM 175 gr).

Real question is will you want the OBR at some point in the future? If so, cry once buy once may be something to consider.

600 yards  ... one shot ... make sure ... 7.62x51  (.308) ...  Double taps work best.  Final answer OBR Heavy in .308

Huh.  Well, shucks fellas, I guess I will have to give the OBR a day in court!

600 meters is a bit of a reach for lethality for 5.56, what was I thinking?
