| I got the OBR mounts...havent needed to yet but do you recommend loctiting the screws? |

I just received my SPR. Do the torx screws have dabs of red loctite on them or is that something else? Yes, that is a thread locker. My Rem. 700 LT-113S rail was shipped with No 6 screws with the red on them and a small vial of blue locktite for the No. 8 screws. You are GTG (good to go). |
|
I got an email back from them saying it was not the permanent red loctite. I tested this by taking out one of the torx screws 24 hours after I'd put them in place. Gonna get some blue loctite now that I don't have to worry about my Accupoint and SPR becoming permanent soul mates. |

Did anyone say anything about adding blue Loctite to the screws that already have the red threadlocker on them? |

If you have any doubts about the pre-applied thead locker, wire brush it off and degrease with solvent, such as acetone or brake cleaner. Do this on both the male and female threads. Then, freshly apply blue or red loctite. Neither is permanent, and if properly applied, they will keep fasteners in place. If you want permanent, welding is required. Mig or Tig is a good choice. /I play an engineer on TV. |

Well mister engineer can you educate us on the thermodynamic effects of the heat required to remove red loctite on your fancy $800 scope? *from the loctite website on red loctite: Cleanup Clean adhesive residue immediately with a damp cloth. Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in methylene chloride and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush. For disassembly, heat parts up to 482°F (250°C) and separate parts while hot. Hmm, what's the melting point of 6061 aircraft aluminum? |

I am about to put my 2-7x in it's mount(LT-158) and I want to lock it in place when I do. The screws have the red stuff in place already. |

We have been shipping some newer mounts with Nylok installed on the ring screws (the red stuff). These are reusable about 10-15 times. |

I may send my scope to Leupold Custom Shop in the future, but also wanted to have it locked in for this shooting/hunting season until then. |
