[ARCHIVED THREAD] - handguard replacement?

Im going to be buying a handguard from LaRue (given) but im still kinda new to ARs even though I have learned tons on here.

I wanted to know if I go for a handguard over the 7'' carbine replacement, what happens to the Front sight base and the gas tube. I know you would take off the FSB all together but is it just as easy to assemble as simply putting on the 7'' replacement?

The gas tube stays. You'll need a low profile gas block. You can either cut down your current FSB or buy one. LaRue sells a nice one.

I went ahead and bought the 7'' handguard about 5 minutes ago

... I think my next gun will be a long range weapon so I'll deal with that when it comes. Thanks guys.

Good choice. I love the 7.0 on a carbine
