Hello
I am unable to index the barrel nut on my carbine length forearm. I've broken three wrenches trying, but the gas tube hole will not align. Any ideas? Updated to add, three wrenches tightening that thing seemed to be a bad idea. I actually broke a wrench trying to remove it. |

Sorry to hear you're having problems.
Sometimes barrel nuts line-up perfectly, often more, they need extra TLC. Wow...three wrenches. I often need to hammer on a barrel wrench to perfectly line up the tube hole, never broke a wrench. So, on to your situation. You'll obviously need to get the barrel nut off (try heating it. when you get your new wrench) Then, clean the receiver threads and the nut threads generously get any foreign crud off the threads (I use Dawn, hot water, and an old toothbrush) Next, lube the threads (with wheel-bearing grease) on both the receiver and barrel nut, before trying again. This should give you the extra room needed). A good barrel wrench won't mind getting tapped with a hammer....I wale on mine. |

I am actually at 4 wrenches now, I tempted fate, I should have heated it. We basically broke all types available. I will give it a shot. Thanks |
