Mark, I'm sure this is not a new idea to you, but I would probably give up a kidney to get my hands on a Larue Stealth upper in 6.8 SPC, complete with an LW-50 barrel, polygonal rifling and something around a 1:11 twist. Then I would give up the other one to get a 6.8 SPC Stealth Lower with a wider mag opening to better accommodate the wider 6.8 cartridges. It could be a collaboration project with a magazine manufacturer (Magpul) . . . you could make MILLIONS! |

Do like I did. Buy LaRue ,upper, gas block, hand guard and build your own. There are lots of great barrel options out there,Dennys Guns ,AR15 Performance, White Oak Armorment to name a few. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg146/164fj/December07048.jpg |
Guess there have been a few barrel problems or somthing like that. I don't know all the real details since I'm not a big 6.8 guy. But did a real quick scan of a thred in the AR variants forum a few weeks back. As I was told at SHOT from one of the LaRue guys if you want a LaRue 6.8 contact MSTN they will build you a "LaRue 6.8".

Tim got screwed by his chrome liner (they over chromed some barrels). His barrels are good, just too much chrome for the combat loads. Since he is a standup guy and tried to make it right, this problem killed his small business. Getting back to the topic at hand, I would love a LaRue Stealth 6.8 SPC. I wanted one so much that I built one with a M4 Stealth upper and a Cardinal Armory barrel. Even with the chrome issue, the upper is very accurate. Now if I could get a LaRue lower, I would be temporarily satisfied until a LaRue Stealth 6.8 upper became available. |
I did the same thing, Larue Stealth upper, 12" rail, Troy sights and Kotonics (purchased before the name change to Cardinal Armory) 16" mid-weight barrel. I would dearly love one that is all Larue though! |
