[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Backorder Sucks (Page 1 of 2)

Would be nice if you guys could update your website when you're out of stock on items so people know they're going to be put on back order. I received the first part of my order fine, but have been on back order for 2 weeks now for the second half of my order. I have been told twice on the phone the rest of my order would ship out in a few days, but it has not, and have gotten good friendly customer support on the phone, but you guys are really bad at answering emails. So again reaching the end of the week I'm wondering if or when the second half of my order will ship out. Love the products, hate the wait. Thanks Order # 13605 500-007-649 1 Aimpoint 3X Magnifier 11324 With LaRue Tactical QD Pivot Mount LT649 ($5.00 Insurance) @ $606.00 = $606.00 |

Hey at least you got your order in. I've had hell with my bank since I moved across town. After my address update they screwed up in the zipcode by one digit. This meant that LT could not process my order and now I have to wait for the pre-Auth to credit back for the second time now. Approximately 38 hours and counting. |
Patience. ![]() You should know that LaRue sells to the .Mil and I for one am glad those boys are getting the gear they need before anyone else. Sometimes products go out of stock. Sometimes keyboard commando's are made to wait. Besides, waiting for something you want so badly builds character. A year from now you'll have forgotten the wait and the bitching. |
|
I just placed my first order with Larue last week. The aimpoint 3x pivot mount and the standard aimpoint M2 mount. I was not sure what the normal lead time is on the products. Not a big deal since the optics are currently mounted on ARMS/Samson mounts and is fully functional. But I still can't wait to have the Larue stuff on my gun |
|
A little indicator about backorder would be nice as I just got my order info and had to call about why the amount was different. Looks like the Aimpoint 3x Mag has been on backorder for a while, and while I can wait, it would have been nice to know. That said, they have top-notch telephone support and their mounts are by far the best I've ever seen. A little proactive info would go a long way. |
|
The best way to know if an item is in stock is to call me. I will put you on hold and go walk to the cage and check. When it comes to the magnifiers, we have them in stock, and the pivot mount that goes with it will be ready very soon. If you ever have any questions, just call me Thanks! Austin Scott. |
|
Thanks guys... Yea I don't mind waiting as long as I know I'm waiting. I'm thinking about ordering a stealth upper and a few other things so I'll probably just call next time I order to check the wait time. I'm not a big phone person so doing things online is how I handle most my shopping. As most have stated most online stores will say if things are out of stock or not and that would be nice. Larue mounts are by far superior, just am impatient like most :) Thanks again and take it easy. |
Is there some reason why these mounts keep getting pushed back? It seems they have been "going to be shipping in the next day or two" for quite a while now. I guess I just don't understand how a day or two turns into 3 weeks. Did something go wrong? Curiosity, more than inpatience, is the reason I ask. |
I have patience, as you can see from my post
I just also have a legitimate curiosity. If it is not a question that should be asked for some reason, I will gladly withdraw it, but I don't see why it would be. |

It's all good, I called in to place an order for a 10" handguard, and lo-pro gas block. I spoke with Blake who told me that the handguard had to be assembled, and the gas blocks were coming out from production. I'm doing my bet to be patient, as I was told at the time of my order that it should be a week to 10 days. I don't mind; I"m gathering up the parts for my new upper build, and haven't had much free time for building anyways, so it'll be good to get everything in, and have all the parts ready and waiting. |
Website Suggestions Thread Give the IT guys something to work on ! |
I take it you're not a machinist? It takes a lot of time to set up a piece of equipment to start making cuts on those little pieces of metal, not to mention the fact that they don't make them one at a time. They do large runs of one particular part, then switch out to make the next part. LaRue also sells to LEO, Military, and distributors, and as such has to make enough for all those people. Rest assured, you will get your part. Just don't expect them to jump up, run over to the CNC mill and cut yours out right now to send it to you. When your mount does arrive, the quality will be worth the wait. |
MOST of the people on this board are not machinists (I'm willing to bet) All the more reason to put something on the website that lets people know the product they desire is not currently in stock. That would lead to fewer of these types of complaints. It would be really easy too. |
|
You guys just need to call to find out if certain items are in stock. I know the wait KILLS us, but like it was mentioned above about the CNC machines, they do runs or batches of certain products then change tooling, load programs, do test cuts, etc. and move on to the next "scheduled" part. ALL machine shops follow this protocol as it is just not feasible to change tooling etc just for a few pieces of product when, in this case they probably have 1000 FUG's to do, then after that maybe they need to do 1000 aimpoint mounts, then 1000 cantilever aimpoint mounts, then 1000 13.2 rails, then 1000 7.0 rails.... etc. You get the picture. I have been waiting for 2 MONTHS for my AR10 13.2/ AR10 Gas block/ vtac sling. I placed the order online on april 1st. Have I called Blake? Of course. I emailed him about 3 times and called once but to place an order for a UBR and know that "the AR10 13.2 rails are currently in process and there is no estimated time of completion". This means to me, that the AR10 13.2 rails are "waiting" in line and I expect to wait a lot longer with everyone ordering FUGs, mounts, and AR15 handguards. Those products move a lot faster than AR10 parts. I can wait and will wait. Its not like they charged my CC for the parts and I'll know they'll ship it as soon as its made. ETA: LaRue and their staff are good for it. In time everyone will have their stuff. I dont think updating the website to show "in stock" and "out of stock" items will help with the wait. It doesnt matter if you order a part now and wait a month to get it, then they charge your CC. Or you keep checking their website for "in stock now" for a month then they charge your CC... its the same thing, youre still waiting a month. Hope that makes sense.

Pup-dawg, you got a great handle on the situation. ![]() All, we have no intention of disconnecting Uncle Sam's red phone and will therefore expect to be interrupted at random. Makes for interesting scheduling. ML |

The only concern...and as you said pup is that changing the site will affect wait time...no but it would affect larue's business for non larue related items. I ordered my aimpoint stuff through them with the larue mounts for ease and to give them business, but people do have choices as consumers and when there are many companies that sell the same products. Something like being put on back order can and will always affect a consumers decision on who to buy something from, and that's just part of the game. The larue products I can understand waiting on when you're set on something specifically from larue. It's nothing against anyone, but as a consumer that's just how things are. You have to look at things like this also..take for instance, someone is wanting a new upper..well they are looking at a stealth then a noveske...both awesome quality uppers...around the same price...well one has a wait time and one doesn't. That would definitely persuade the consumer to make a final decision. It's just competition and business, and from the consumer perspective, time and money weigh heavily upon purchase. I personally used ar15.com as reference for all my purchases and because of the outstanding reviews of larue products and service I went with them as this site is definitely #1 when it comes to ar15 anything. Plenty of companies that make mounts out there but I wanted the best, so some extra wait time doesn't bother me for the larue stuff. |

You do know that there are Industry Partners who are authorized LaRue distributors, right? I called them to place an order for an ACOG mount, and was told they were unsure when the next batch would even go into production. I was advised at the time that I could place an online order, and only get charged when the item was ready. Instead, I went to GTS (Denny's Guns) who is a stocking distributor, and they had the LaRue mount I needed in stock. Although I didn't get any cool LaRue swag, I did receive my mount, and very quickly at that. I believe there are a couple more distributors aside from GTS, such as Bravo Company. They are worth looking into to see if they have the mount you need. Same high quality LaRue gear, but no wait time, provided they have it in stock. ETA: BTW Sacrimon, I see that since you started this thread, you have upgraded your membership.

I've got an order w/ most everything on back order... (FUG, Aimpoint ML3 w/ Mount, Aimpoint 3x Mag w/ Pivot, 9" Handguard) It probably doesn't help I keep looking at the pictures and drooling over the parts. But I'll wait, and it will be amazing when it arrives. :) |
|
I got the CC charged and the Shipping Email Yesterday evening!! Since I only have one item on order, it must be it!! (or Mark Larue is just being nice and sending me a Stealth Upper for no reason.. wish wish) Anyway, I am glad its on the way, I have a shoot to go to next week! Perfect timing! ish |
I've been checking my bank account religiously to see if I've been charged, nothing yet. I am jealous. |

"This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it". - Hunt For Red October Sacrimon, If your stuff is not in your hands tomorrow, then I will kiss your a$$ in Times Square and give you thirty minutes to draw a crowd. My apologies, I wrongly believed that my post from earlier sufficed. Thanks for your business. LaRue |
Seems everyone is getting different stories. Who did you speak with on the phone? I've been waiting for a couple weeks now on a 10" handguard and gas block. I emailed, and received a reply from Cody, who stated that they were waiting on parts, and had no idea of a completion date. Mark, is this just a pacification line, about "everything should be ready in a week", or is everyone just not on the same page? I'm not asking for expedited shipping or processing, just curious since there's a couple of us getting two different bits of information. |
Unfortunately for some, this isn't the kind of place where we spend a lot of time in scheduling meetings, daily briefings, etc. The red phone rings and blows all that sh*t out of the water. Whatever was running gets raked-off into the floor and all hands attack whatever is needed to kill the bastards best with. That's our MO. In defense of my great guys up front, they walk by a mill and see handguards spewing out and rightfully assume we should have some soon. They've gotten stung a couple of times lately and now appear to not be sticking their neck out as unforeseen circumstances have proved them wrong a few times. I wish we could afford a body to walk each and every order through, but the infrastructure to have pepple standing around counting the people standing around would put us on all out in the street. It's a fast-paced scene here, hang tight if you can, or cancel your orders if you must, either way, we'll understand. But do be advised, we ain't letting the grass grow under our feet and it'a all a$$holes and elbows here 7 days a week. M. LaRue |

Mark, if you need more people I'm willing to leave my job and relocate. Granted, I know very little about machining but I'm a quick learner and will work for product.* yak *Offer only valid until my wife asks why I am spending all my time at work and not making money.
|
Agreed. I hope my post didn't come off as an insult or derogatory. I've worked in a mchine shop, and know what it's like to have deadlines and priority customers stepping to the front of the line. Again, no harm intended, was just looking for the stright dope on LaRue's plans. I appreciate the response, and have no desire to cancel my order. I've used LaRue products in the past, and can wait for them to be completed. |
|
Got my Aimpoint ML3 and LT150 today. :) Also got my FUG, Vortex, and Jimmy plug today. Still waiting on Aimpoint 3x and Pivot Mount. Also just waiting on confirmation that I can change my order from 9" to 11" rails, add a low profile gas block, and the LaRue/Troy folding sight package to my order. Definitely excited and cannot wait for the rest of my order. |
