LaRue,

You should really have a little widget or something next to each item on your site that lets people know if the item is in stock or not.  Ordering something that is listed only to find out that it is not in stock and that the wait "can't even be guessed at" is unsat.

Again, this is just a suggestion from a customer / veteran consumer.

For non-LaRue items though, why should you have to wait?

If something is listed on a company e-store it should be in stock, or allow the consumer to be able to tell if it isn't in stock.

There are many other places to shop for non-LaRue items, and LaRue could lose business if people are never sure if the item is going to get to them in a timely manner.

There are plenty of businesses that do not offer a list of what is or is not in stock. I think having that knowledge would prevent a whole lot of "where is my stuff" "what happened to customer service" oriented threads.

Yes, way too many businesses do online sales poorly.

Hey, I'm just glad they let me place an order, even if the parts are backordered.  I'm not a fan of checking to see if an item is in stock every day so I can click the order button just in time.

If you really need something now, you could try calling them DIRECTLY.  I would rather see nothing but assholes and elbows in the CNC shop and/or shipping dept, then to waste money/manpower on a "feel good" item like that. JMO YMMV.

I think you are missing the point.

You could still order if it was back ordered.  But, the rest of us that don't want to order a back ordered item could know in advance they didn't have it... and order from someplace else.  It isn't really difficult to set up, as there are MANY other online stores that do this... even those in the firearms business.

I really could care less about real-time inventory status.  If you want to know whether or not something is in stock, call ahead of time before placing your order.

If there is a shipping delay, be patient because the order will arrive in due time.

Hell I called yesterday morning to modify my order that I placed, added the LT 7.0 and it was no big deal.  Just pick up the phone and dial dead center of Texas.

Could just order from some place else to begin with if it's that big of a problem.

I am just trying to help LaRue out.  Maybe they hadn't considered it before.

What started this in the first place was an order I recently placed with them.  I ordered a couple of things, one of which shipped... one didn't.  I e-mailed about it and was told that it was not in stock and they didn't know when it would be.  That kind of thing is nice to know beforehand.  And you shouldn't have to call some place to see if the products on the website actually exist.

IMHO…

I always place all my orders by phone.  I ask Austin or Blake or whoever picks it up, real time, what the lead time on items are and make the call right then and there if I want to wait or not.  If the product isn’t made by LaRue then yeah you could go elsewhere but I usually pair it up with something that is made by them and they seem to be made to order with how quickly they go out the door.

Waiting a little while longer for something isn’t going to kill me and I won’t panic if it takes another week for my FUG to fuggin get here.  The folks that aren’t popular and that make crap that falls off your weapon probably have tons of them in stock.  There is a very good reason for the wait in my mind.  It’s not because Mark has his feet up on his desk and all his boys are out back smokin’ and jokin’, but supply and demand and how fast you can do something right.

While I'm sure everyone aggrees that Larue stuff is top of the line (otherwise why would we be ording it), I think a stock indicator would be nice.  Almost every place I order anything from (auto parts, construction materials, electronics and firearms stuff) has some note of the stock status.  I don't mind waiting either but I would like to know weather or not I am going to be waiting.  Some people are pick up the phone people others are internet/email/text message people.  I'm both depending on what I am dealing with.  To all the people who jumped on the OP for his suggestion of a stock status indicator I ask whats wrong with his idea?  None I can see.  Theres only a few places I would order from anyways, and I usually like to order everything I need at one time from one place.  That avoids multiple shipping charges and multiple packages.  The only way to coordinate this is to know whats in stock and whats not.  Sometimes a phone call doesn't cut it when I want to make a 1 AM impulse buy consisiting of a bunch of stuff.  That's all I'm saying.  Not a big deal but maybe something to consider (but what do I know, if they are out of stock on a bunch of items it means they're selling like crazy, so keep up the good work I guess)

Amen!

Plus, some of us aren't always able to use a phone and/or computer during normal working hours. We end up HAVING to order our stuff at odd hours or on the weekend.
