I rented the new 640 IR Hunter last month for a long weekend and it had software issues that would not allow the startup menu to clear. I also had a flir 640 monocular spotting scope that was great but obviously didn't have all the bells and whistles. It seems like one more evolution from FLIR on their tactical scope and they will have the perfect product. Thanks for the response. |
Went out behind my house looking for a coyote that has been annoying my dog. Found this instead. Hit her in the keister at aporox 100 yds on the run. 2 shots with the Stealth 16/13.2" and ACOG with LT mount. It's the same rifle I whack all my vermin with

Well, I've finally bloodied the tOBR. Wasn't some long range miracle, but since it was at about 25 yds I did hold 2 MILS for mechanical offset or whatever the buzz phrase is this month. Wish he woulda been with some friends. Had nine more nails in the mag. |

This past weekend here in Texas, the Hunt FE Hill Ranch hosted 6 wounded Veterans from our great friends at the Wishes for Warriors family. All in all 42 does (31 shown here) were taken by the 6 vets, two were amputees that had never hunted before. Most of the deer were taken with Larue 762 OBRs and tOBRs supplied to the vets from my personal stash. 14.5", 16" and 2 18" heavies were used with great success out to just over 500 yards. The front row are the vets with the Wishes family, the back row is the ranch owner, president of Wishes for Warriors and myself. The meat was taken by another charity in Dallas that process and donates it to needy military families, an all around great event.  |

Welp, another year of p-dog shooting is rapidly winding down. Put another 1,000+ rounds down 5.56 LaRue Stealth pipe and an additional 1,000+ rds through a Savage A17. In the .223/5.56, I'm finding the Fiocchi 40gr polymer tip to be particularly deadly; even more so than the 50gr v-max. Holy shit is it flat shooting! And the terminal effects are devastating. 3,650 fps compared to 3,300 fps for the 50gr pills. I've had to adjust my holdovers at longer ranges, but it brings the hurt. Popped this pair at around 235 yds.
