Well I am trying to make a 13.2 Larue work on a RRA 24" Bull Barrel, and I ran into some problems. After spending hours on the mill cutting some nice 3/8" wide flutes into the barrel, I start the reassembly of the upper. Well I get the barrel in the upper, put the retainer in place, then slip the ring and barrel nut on the barrel,....BUT the barrel nut won't pass the gas block area. The nut has an ID of 1.025 and my barrel is 1.050" OD.....No problem....I turned the ID of the nut to 1.055 and it slips right on.

Well he is my problem----I blasted the barrel nut so I can parkerize it, as I didn't want one area to rust but it didn't take the Park!!! No problem, I blasted it again and changed my chemicals (I use small batches so it isn't a big deal to change chems).....but still no Park. I blasted a broken drill bit and dropped it into the Parkerizing solution and it blackened in minutes.

Does anyone know what they manufacture their Barrel Nuts out of????????

Hopefully it is Stainless Steel.....but I don't know....as it was finished with something to make it darker (not block but not silver either)

Help please. My upper was hoping to get sighted it tomorrow.

Hopefully someone at Larue will have this answer when they get into the office!
