I know most are going to use the RDP on an ar15 or as a backup red dot attached to a scoped rifle.  But I've recently gotten the ak47 bug and plan on mounting an optic on an ultimak gas tube rail.  Prolonged fire in training classes can heat the rails up pretty good and I was wondering how the RDP handled heat.

Does anyone have any experience w/ the RDP II on an ak47?  Thoughts/opinions?  How'd the unit handle the heat?

Also, does the sight come w/ a rail mount?  The TNVC red dot page looks like it does, but wanted to confirm.

I'm not looking for an end-all, be-all optic.  I just a decent one that will allow me to get some decent training in while I save up for an Aimpoint H1 (I don't need NV).

Note: My search-fu sucks.  So, if I missed the thread that talked about this sight on an ak47, I do apologize for a duplicate post; please provide the link to that thread.

Thanks much.

I have run an RDPII on an AK, attached to a Midwest Industries AK Handguard.  Admittedly, it wasn't a class and the gun wasn't run hard, but it held up fine through a bunch of mags.

Just to note.. I spent a lot of money on optics a couple of years ago thinking i'd never be getting night vision. Then I got into night vision, and had to buy all new optics. Could have saved myself about $600 bucks by getting a night vision capable Aimpoint the first time around.
