Ok, let me start by saying that I didn't want to do this but I'm to the point that I feel it needs to happen. I ordered one of these rail for my new patrol rifle that will be used also as my SWAT primary weapon. I purchased this rail as soon as it came out (actually I pre-ordered it and got it within a week of them being avaliable). As soon as I got it I gave it over to our department armorer for installation per our department policy. During installation, our armorer tourqued the barrel nut to proper and advised specs but a tooth broke, kind of suprising but not a huge deal.
Our armorer contacted Midwest Industries, told them about the issue and advised as to exactly which model it was and stated it was for a police officer's weapon. Midwest said they would send out a "new and improved hardend barrel nut" that day. Later either that week or the next the replacement came, our armorer took the barrel out and the one that was sent was the wrong barrel nut. We then contacted Midwest Industries about the wrong one being sent, the lady we spoke with was very rude and advised that "if you had said Gen 2 SS in ther first place then the right one would have been sent." We advised her that we did say the Gen 2 SS and the package the replacement came in also showed as the Gen 2 SS. After stating this we were told that a new one would be shipped out. We were told the new one was shipped over a week ago, probably closer to 2 weeks and it has not arrived yet. we called to check on it and all that we were told was that "it was shipped already". I have had this gun/rail for over a month now on the bench still waiting to be in a serviceable condition. So I have now missed our department's qualification date for rifles for the year and will not be able to carry this rifle on patrol or for SWAT. I think Midwest makes good products still but I have been disappointed mainly in the customer service with this incident. I really do like this rail and think it will make a great rifle once it is installed. I just hope that Midwest can make this situation right or I'm in a position that I'll have to start looking for another rail just for the gun to be made operational. There were quite a few people here looking at getting the same rail but have told me that after seeing what troubles I've had that they are re-thinking that and starting to look elsewhere. |
