I recently bought a set of the T12 FF rails and had a gunsmith install them for me. The problem with the rails is that it is not aligned with the upper reciever. There is a slight cant (maybe 1 mm to the left), really small to be that noticeable. My gunsmith informed me of the cant ( I was there the whole time he did the install, it took him a real long time to try and adjust it perfectly). He gave me a reason that underneath the rail ( the hole next to rail B18) was something to do with the problem of the alignment. He tried his best, but couldn't get it perfect. I really didn't think nothing of it at the time, but now Im noticing the cant with my front flip up sights.
Does anyone have this same problem? Especially anyone that installed their rails themselves? oh by the way, the upper is a 16" midlength BCM with MI low profile gas block. |

By the looks of the picture you have a major install problem . I can tell you right now that the hand guard was not installed correctly. Please give me a call and i will expain how to go about getting this corrected. It is NOT a problem with the hand guard.

Just curious, was this problem with the barrel nut not being perfectly lined up? I used this rail on my SPR build and it went on great. I used my removable carry handle to align the rail with the upper and then tightened the lock ring down. I bought a 9" forend to use on my 10.5" build. I came up with a few "improvements" to the system. A few add on's that will NOT let anything move once installed. Don't know if anyone would be interested in something like that.

This was a barrel nut alignment problem. If you use a drill bit and insert it through the barrel nut and push it into the upper while tightening the barrel nut you will get much closer from the start. You will also not over shoot and have to back the barrel nut off. This operation should not be rushed and is very easy to do it just takes some patience .
I have bee thinking of having some step pins made up that would get you extremely close but I don't know if they would really justify the effort. I don't know how many guys would want them. thanks TROY MI |
