| Well I thought I would post up in preperation for the arrival of my new toy. I looked long and hard on deciding on which AR I wanted to go with this time. After much looking, talking and reading, I found a good deal on a NIB CMMG M4 14.5 with fixed Phantom. I was looking at going with a spikes and it was going to be a long wait to get one from them. I will still pick one up in the future. The CMMG actually ran me less than my dealer cost on a Spike's M4, so I figured I couldn't go wrong.. It has the full phosphate chrome lined barrel 1 and 7 twist and the M16 BCG. Ths owner upgraded to the M16 BCG and added a Magpul Forearm. Thats it and he said he never shot it. It should arrive sometime Tuesday and I am pretty stoked about it. The rifle looked prestine from the pics he sent. As soon as it arrives it will get all Magpul furniture and my Primary Arms M4 clone. This is going to be my KISS Carbine and I am gonna go through it replace anything that may potentially be an issue. I would like to have a solid rifle that will run 100%. If she proves herself it will start riding along with me on duty. I will post up some shots as soon as it arrives and again when the new equipment is in place. This is not my first AR, but it is my first CMMG. I have heard nothing but positive comments about the brand. thier equipment. and the company. I am looking forward to getting to know CMMG. stay safe .....TXPO |

I have the 14.5" CMMG upper. Mine has the light weight barrel and mid-length hand guards. I put MagPul hand guards on mine. They go with my MagPul stock.
I am being 100% honest with you when I say that is my favorite AR to shoot. (and that means something as I have nine of them in all shapes and sizes!). It is light, well balanced and points fast. I have an EoTech on mine...an optic I love. Everyone who shoots this rifle loves it. A couple of people I know actually went out and bought that upper after trying mine at the range. Like I said, it handles so darn well. With the EoTech that thing moves and points super fast with both eyes open. I also have a nice trigger on it, a CMMG two stage, and that just makes it perfect for me. You will be happy with that upper. Dave North...sorry you lost yours. Hopefully you will have another. If you really start getting with-draw symptoms...give me a call and you can shoot mine. |

Quoted: This statement from their web site doesn't sit well with me: "...any steel cased ammunition or Wolf Ammunition VOIDS your Limited Lifetime Warranty." It bothered me when I bought mine, to the point where I almost when elsewhere (was the only midlength I could find at the time.) It now has a couple of cases of Wolf through it. The only parts that can break are ones I keep on hand as spares anyway. |

Steel case is not going to hurt your barrel. Lots of compasny's have that warning. The biggest issue is the Wolf and steel case ammo is under powered and can cause cycling problems.
Not all of us can afford brass mil. ammo. I won't own a rifle that will not cycle Wolf. Might be all I can get at some point. Dave N |

That "Don't use steel case ammo" is a pretty standard warning and I don't blame them one bit for putting it out there. Here is what one company tells you (Bushmaster):
"Bushmaster Firearms, International LLC will not be responsible for the results of careless handling, unauthorized adjustments, defective, low quality, reloaded, or improper ammunition", That statement leaves the door open for them to declare any ammo they wish as being "defective or low quality". The only AR I ever had that had a problem with steel case ammo was a Bushmaster, BTW. I had to upgrade their cheap extractor spring. Anyway, I don't worry too much about these warnings. Good companies will fix your firearm if it is truly defective. They will NOT fix it if you screw up....and they shouldn't As for steel case ammo...no comment. |

I am not concerned about steel case ammo either. I don't shoot it if I can help it, just personal preference. Should I decide to shoot some about the boggest concere would be tearing up the extractor, carrier. If i wanted to feed a rifle a steady diet of steel, I would have an AK. Thats just me. I don't shoot steel through any of my pistols, so why should I through my rifles. If it is all I could get not problem I will use it, and replace the BCG with one of the two new Colt one's I have stored away. Or I would just grab my old 6920. |
