Any thoughts on this ? The only thing that can be damaged are the rails if you remove the chamber adapter when polishing. Avoid disassembly unless absolutely necessary. More often than not the tension is inadvertently changed and the unit will no longer function. While it won't hurt anything, we don't recommend polishing since it really isn't necessary. |

As CMMG indicates or implies, the parkerized unit should smooth in just fine very quickly as long as the underlying steel surface is good without any need for polishing.
Before I even shot my stainless steel CMMG conversion I TOOK IT APART (horror of horrors!!) and polished the feed ramp. I didn't like the looks of the ramp surface, and I have to drive 2 1/2 hours to shoot so I don't like to play around with stuff when I should be shooting. I also take that annoying tag off of mattresses. The unit seems to work well in semi auto though I have not had a chance to see how it does in full auto. It may have been just fine without my efforts but I did not want to take the chance considering my driving times. I'm pretty confident in my ability to take apart and put back together stuff without "Bubba-ing". Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc. |

We definitely don't recommend taking the chamber adapter off, the rails. Most returns have had the rails inadvertently bent(nobody means to do it, but it happens very easily). If you have a parkerized kit, just expect the possibility of a malfunction for the first couple hundred rounds. No worries on the SST, there is no break in on these. The only thing I would recommend is downloading the magazine to 10-15rds. The function will be better since the new kit isn't fighting the mag tension. |
