I have installed the CMMG clamp on gas conversion on 2 different barrels and had the same problem each time.
The rifle functions for a few (3 to 10) shots and then it has a problem, the case of the last round fired is caught up above the fresh round from the magazine as it fed into the chamber. The stuck case is at a ninety degree angel, base of the case in the receiver. The rifle ejects the cases forward and with not much force compared to other ARs. I have a few pictures but I do not have no place to upload them for viewing. Any ideals? |

Just wanted to update everyone on what I found.
After removing and re-installing the kit, used a makeshift wire tool to verify that the gas ports Were aligned, still had the same problems. I was going to try a reduced power recoil spring when I found the problem. The bolt was hitting the recoil spring tube to the point that is was gouging a spot out 3/4 of an inch back into the tube. This was occurring at about 5 o'clock on the tube if you are looking straight into it. Tried the upper on another lower and we are now operating problem free. Not sure if the other tube is bent or just out of spec thickness wise or if it is a problem with the threads of the lower but this is something you might have people with problems check in the future. |
