hay guys, i have a question. i have a cmmg .22lr converion kit, now i want a dedicated .22 upper for it, but i dont know weather to get a new upper ( from model 1 sales ) or a dedicated .22 upper?? so my questions are.
1) are the uppers from model 1 sales any good?
2) since it is going to be for a dedicated .22 upper can i use the conversion kit in a upper made for .22 only ?
any help would be appriciated. the conversion is just for plinking if that helps

A dedicated upper is an AR style upper that is set up to run with only 22lr, without any conversion kit.

Since you already have the CMMG conversion, and you evidently want to run it in a separate upper, the logical thing would be to get a new upper from model 1 sales.

If you get yourself what is called a dedicated 22lr upper, you will basically have no need for the conversion kit you already have.  Does that make sense?

In your position, the only thing a dedicated .22lr upper would give you as an advantage would be a 16" barrel that looks like a 14.5" one.

An M1S upper should run great on there, although for even less, see if you can find a stripped barrel that hasn't been drilled for a gas port, then build your own dedicated .22 upper with a forged completed upper, and slap a cheap YHM or Stock/TROY rail system on there?
