I purchased a 16in Middy about 4 months ago,it came with a loose end cap for the handguards.I can move it left, right,up and down, the gas tube is the only thing stopping it.When I do have my Cav regular handguards(non tapered) mounted there is no play though. Both of my Bushmasters have no play at all in the end caps.

I have a few different brands of uppers(with pinned FSB's or gas blocks) and some are tight and some have loose end caps. Its never been an issue for me and only notice it when the handguards are removed.
That said,if it bothers you send Paul at BCM a email and see what he recommends.Otherwise I would not worry about it.

Actually I am not real concerned as long as the handguards stay tight like they are with the end cap. Thanks for the comeback
