Are shop services the same cost for LR308s as AR15 platform?

I have a 24" Flutted version.

Is there a problem with shortening when it would be cut into the fluted area?
Can a already fluted barrel be reprofiled?

I would certainly like to keep as much accuracy as possible but these things are so freaking heavy... what are other customers doing with these barrels?

Yes, the barrel can be re-profiled.

Accuracy should not be effected. Had a few cutting them to 20" and turning them down a bit.

I'm interested in this as well. I've got a fluted 24" DPMS.

Any problem re-profiling it, cutting to 18", threading, installing comp and installing a new FF?

Or, should I just buy a new upper or barrel?

What would be more cost effective?

Well, if it were mine, i would sell THAT barrel and buy a new one (24" barrels are not the easiest to come by). The WOA SPRr barrel is a Mid Weight 18", SS, 1:7 barrel with rifle length gas, runs $285.

If you decide to go fwd with the work, you would be looking at $160 to contour the Barrel and Thread/Cut (not including dis/re-assemble if required, or additional parts).
