I noticed that the hammer pin that came with my SSA rotates approximately 1/4 turn with the hammer, and the trigger pin seems to vibrate upon trigger pull and rotates somewhat also. I never paid attention to the pins in the stock LMT lower prior to the installation of the SSA.

Is this normal and or acceptable?

thanks

No it is not acceptable.  They will eventually slip out with a lot of firing.  Get some anti rotational pins they're cheap and work.  I have a set from JP.

...ok?

They shouldn't walk out because the hammer itself has a pin pressed inside that locks into the groove on the hammer pin.  The trigger pin won't walk out because the "arms" of the hammer spring sit in the grooves on the trigger pin.

The only issue that some people fear is that the pins rotating like that will wear and elongate or "egg out" the in pin holes.  To solve this most people purchase KNS Anti-Rotation pins.  I have a set and they certainly work as advertised and you won't have to 'ream' your pin holes.

This is all assuming that the SSA pins are like every other pin I have ever seen.  I searched or a while to see pics of the trigger and the pins do appear to be the same as any others.

Edit to add: the pins on all my ARs move like you described until I installed the KNS pins.  I figured they are cheap insurance to keep the lower in good shape.  I'm sure i'll destroy it some other way long before the pin holes wear out.

Ok...........You just said what I said, but longer...........  The hammer spring sits in the grooves provided on the pin, yes.  I have seen them come out before.  And I don't know why JP says you "might" need to ream out your pin holes but I guess that to cover their ass if you have a shitty lower.  I didn't have to do anything to my Essential Arms Lower, they worked like a charm.  And no it is not good to have your pins rotating, AND yes I would recommend the KNS pins as well I have installed them on a couple buddies AR's before and they work just the same.
