I have an unfinished AR15 22LR barrel.  I bought it in hopes of building an ultra lite rifle.  Carbon fiber wrapping the barrel was not possible after speaking to the experts.  Perhaps more accurate to say possible but cost prohibitive.

Is there a way to cut down and finish the barrel to say 10" and permanently attach a faux aluminum or carbon fiber supressor to bring the OAL back to 16"?  I know it seems geh to have a faux supressor but I am trying to eliminate the barrel weight up front.  I have no idea how much the faux supressor would weigh or if it can be attached to satisfy the BATF.

The short barrel also would allow me to utilize a shorter rail to achieve the desired asthetics.  Something like the rifle pictured below from the SBR folder.  Unfortunately SBRs and Supressors are still a no-no in my state.

Thanks

Upon consideration I guess the thought of the fake can up front bugs me too much to actually go through with it.  I'll have to figure out how to shed the weight some other way...
