I am about to place an order through your web-site, but I was wondering how much you would charge to fix a canted FSB.  It came like that from the factory (Colt).  If I was to place this order, would I just select the "Install customer supplied FSB" option, and then add a note in the order form?

As a side note, if you fix it and it isn't perfect I am not going to bitch, as long as I know that it is as perfect as it is going to get (and I trust your proffessional opinion) than that is fine.

Thanks!,

JC

Your best bet would be to drill and tap the FSB for set screws. ONce one is installed, its installed. If you want a Colt FSB, you would have to supply a new, undrilled one.

What brands of FSB's do you have available?  Do you have any that you can put on for me, that will still work in conjunction with the LMT BUIS and a Colt Carry handle as well?

Thanks in advance!

JC

Edited to add:

Why can't the barrel nut just be loosened and the barrel realigned?  The cant is very slight.  I would do it myself but I do not have the proper tools right now.  Thats why I was thinking that the fee would be for dissasembly and assembly of the upper.

The barrel is installed in the upper and indexed with a pin into a slot in the receiver. If its a slight cant, why mess with it at all?  I can swap on a new FSB for $85, but if I were you I'd spend that money on ammo and not worry about the cant.

First of all, I really appreciate your help.

Would the new FSB work with an LMT BUIS and also a Colt Carry handle?  Or will I just need to get a new front sight post to go along with it as well (I know that Colt's front sight posts are different or something to that affect)?

The cant is pretty slight but it bothers me.  It puts my rear A2 apeture about half way between the center marking and the right side limit of adjustment in order to get a zero.  I guess as long as it is able to zero then that is all that matters, but it seems like it would be easier to get a much more consistent sight picture by just leveling the top of the front sight post instead of it being slightly  angled to the right when in the center of the rear sight apeture.  Maybe I will just include it in the order with the other stuff I am having done and then add a note asking you to look at it yourself to see if you feel that it is necessary or not.  I will take your word for it one way or the other.  It certainly looks like it could be much better to me, and I am willing to pay to perfect my little carbine.

The main thing that I need to know is whether or not the new one will work with an LMT and also a Colt carry handle.  If the new FSB is for all intents and purposes the same thing as the colt FSB but just with a different name, then I think I will just go for it.  Also, I have an HBar barrel, just want to make sure that that doesn't change anything.

Thank you very much for your help and excellent service.  I am looking forward to doing business with you and enjoying the fine piece of craftsmanship  I'll be getting back from you.

p.s.  I am looking forward to a response because I am pretty pumped up about placing my order tommorrow!  I hear you do great work!

OK, one last question, the FSB that you guys have is not one of those clamp ons right?  Does it have the bayonet lug?  And last but not least, it is forged and not cast correct?

Thanks, I appreciate all the help.  Don't mean to be a pain, just figured it would be better for me to let you answer at your convenience than interrupting your work with phone calls.
