Howdy. I've got two barrels (16" midlength and 20") which are both HBARs, and would like to trim them down. I'd like for them to be pointable, as well as hold up to heat after a magazine. I'd like to say that the 16" is a go-to gun, but I have to remember that this is reality and I'm not a professional triggerpuller. Both rifles will be used in carbine and rifle matches (tactical style, from 5-400yds). Since you actually shoot what you sell, and experiment with fluting and contouring, I'd like to know what you would recommend for my desires. Would simple fluting of underneath the handguards be enough to reduce weight and remain somewhat resistant to heating up, or a contour work better? Thanks in advance. |

bigbore, Another question about contouring. Does the type of contour matter, that is, will a straight taper (like .750 from forward of the chamber to the muzzle) be better for my purposes than say, the government profile? IIRC, government profile, which is popular here, was done on A2s because of the requirement for the addition of a M203. Since I don't have one of those, I have more options. Thank you. |
