Last spring I bought an Adco built, A2 chrome lined, w/contour midlength upper. Because those threaded barrels had to be permanently capped at the time a knurled cap was installed over the threads with a pin at the 6 O'clock position. Is the removal of this pin and thread protector something that can be done by moderately capable dremell driver? Or should I send it back in for that. JR |

I drilled/dremeled the pin out. Not very clean, and I pussed out and didn't go deep enough. I think I would have had the same luck just twisting it off. The threads were mashed down a little. I would not have been as pissed/scared, but Brownells has been out of the threading tool for months. I was able to "clean-up" the damage with a file and SEVERAL(being conservative) hours. It tests fine no permanent damage, but one hell of a headache. A buddy of mine and I sent barrels in to Adco for threading, it was so easy and quick, I would send it in next time. I believe AND I may be wrong, but "the shop" will actully put it on a lathe and turn it down to were the threads are. Hope it helps. Mike EDITED TO ADD: I was removeing a KKF post-ban Brake. My first post bombed out and I forgot to put that back in. |
