Last spring I bought an Adco built, A2 chrome lined, w/contour midlength upper. Because those threaded barrels had to be
permanently capped at the time a knurled cap was installed over the threads with a pin at the 6 O'clock position.
Is the removal of this pin and thread protector something that can be done by moderately capable dremell driver? Or should I send it back in for that.

I tried that once, wish I hadn't. It took several hours to fix it.

I would send it in, but wait till the end of next week so's they can do mine first.

Sorry I'm in Lake Co.

Do you care to elaborate on the thread protector removal. I dont want to save it. Just get it off.

I drilled/dremeled the pin out. Not very clean, and I pussed out and didn't go deep enough. I think I would have had the same luck just twisting it off. The threads were mashed down a little. I would not have been as pissed/scared, but Brownells has been out of the threading tool for months. I was able to "clean-up" the damage with a file and SEVERAL(being conservative) hours. It tests fine no permanent damage, but one hell of a headache. A buddy of mine and I sent barrels in to Adco for threading, it was so easy and quick, I would send it in next time.

I believe AND I may be wrong, but "the shop" will actully put it on a lathe and turn it down to were the threads are.

Hope it helps.
Mike

EDITED TO ADD: I was removeing a KKF post-ban Brake. My first post bombed out and I forgot to put that back in.
