I have dropped this in a few threads already with no bites so I'll try here.

Have you guys thought about approaching RitDye and making Magpul specific colors/recipes for your Sand products?  It would be a lot easier than individuals experimenting + RitDye would sure get an increase in sales.

Making Knights Taupe, Daniel Defense FDE, B5 coyote brown would be even better

Just a thought if all the colors will soon disappear...

They'd get even better sales if people had to buy multiple dyes to do one magpul color based on a recipe they found online...which turns out not to really match magpul colors...and then you buy a few more sand mags for attempt #2.. and that turns out even worse...then you throw your hands in the air and just buy some black pmags and be done with it.

So basically what is optimal for consumers would result in worse sales for both. Diverging interests means we're gonna have to experiment and the end result will cost more $.

For the record, I'd prefer factory colored magpul products. Barring that, yes, official magpul colors from Rit would be the next best option. If I have to buy 4 different colors and mix them to perfection to get the right color, I likely won't bother.

No, the end result there is going to be "why the hell am I dyeing magazines, I can order [other brand] in FDE."  It can be dangerous to discontinue when your competitors still offer such products.  Which is why they probably haven't canceled production of the Gen 2 PMAG.

The smart thing would have been to release the Magpul Color Cookbook with the announcement of the sand color products.  "Here's our favorite colors, share yours online!"

It looks like the Gen 2 UBR and Gen 3 PRS are going to be available in the Big 4 (black|fde|grey|green), and all the AK products seem to be as well (with plum) so I'm wondering if their experiment with user-made colors is reaching an end?  Or if it'll be a "Gen M3 only" color thing and not impact their other products?

I hate that Bushmaster had an exclusive on the Coyote Brown Magpul stuff.  Was a nice shade, but they (BM) seem to be determined to run it into the ground alongside the ACR.  Oh well.

I just want magpul to sell sand bottom plates separate.  then I could dye and swap to mark mags at my hearts content.

This idea is the answer to end all as was pointed out.
Suggested to do the Base plates being it would be cheaper and easier for everyone involved.
Look in the dye chip thread here.

I'd like to see them develop a bakelite orange color for their AK line of products.

On the Rit Dye website there is a tab for "request a color formula" I have sent them an email and asked if I can send in a color sample and as soon as I hear back I will post the reply here.

The concept of Sand is primarily to create unique colors or camouflage for your own environment not to match stock colors (which may or may not work in your environment).
