Okay so no smoke pmags...
What about grips, handguards, and stocks? |
|
It has been a LONG time and my memory isn't what it once was, but IIRC, Magpul tried some translucent/smoke/etc. mags quite a number of years ago and then scrapped the project because they were unable to get the strength/durability/reliability/etc. out of them that they demand (and rightly so) from their products. I know I've seen pics/reports of some prototypes at some point, but again...the cobwebs are starting to outnumber the firing synapses. I'm not saying that maybe, eventually, it won't happen...but at this point, with all of the other irons they have in the fire, I think Magpul is unlikely to delve into the translucent/smoke mag market in the foreseeable future. |

I've heard that before too. However what is Lancer doing that they can't? Is it the metal feed lips in the Lancer that if clear/smoke polymer would break. |

Quoted: In op I acknowledge no smoke pmags.... But what about all the other products where we're not worried about cracked feed lips? Purely speculative but... 1) Next to NO demand for the product (at least anywhere sufficient to justify the time/cost involved in developing it and bringing it to market...you see ANY market out there for this product line? Who is making translucent/smoke hardware and how many pics you see of folks running such hardware? You may want it, but I just don't see the demand to justify the development. YMMV.); 2) Back to the strength/durability issue...if it won't hold up to Magpul's standards whether in mag form or otherwise...why would they want to put their name on it and sell them?!?! (Just because you may not have to worry about cracked feedlips, etc. with a grip/handguard/etc., doesn't mean that having a more fragile/susceptible to failure part as any component of a firearm is a good idea). |

Translucent furniture? Why? Because he likes it. It's not my thing either but just because he likes it and you don't doesn't mean it's a stupid idea. Sometimes ideas are stupid. And sometimes those stupid ideas need to be pointed out how stupid they are. If not, stupid people will never learn. Translucent furniture is a stupid idea. The only use would be for cutaway models and for showing function, not actually being functional. Help out stupid people, tell them they are stupid. Bullying builds character!

Yes, in my opinion, pink is stupid. It's just to get women more involved in shooting. I think it's stupid that it takes pink parts to get women on board, for the most part. My wife wants purple parts.....
Pink isn't as stupid as clear. And i don't think it would look very good on any aspect to have a translucent smoke color. Why smoke handguard, grip, or butt stock? If simply just because, i can understand that, but I'll still think is stupid and will humbly give my opinion. Even when not asked. Why? Just because. After thinking more, it would be cool to have a translucent handguard over a piston setup. Or a clear buffer tube, with clear stock. Just for education purposes though, not for any real world function |

Stickman has or has had his hand on some smoked PMAGs so they aren't exactly unobtanium.
I remember there was quite a demand for them way back when but Magpul wasn't comfortable with the strength of the translucent polymer. Transparent furniture would be kind of cool but like others have said not very likely. |
