Almost done with my first ever build. Actually really excited that I'm doing this. But as I continue researching little things (like grease for barrel nut) I tend to get overwhelmed. While searching for aeroshell 33ms grease, I'm reading that grease should be applied to the lower extension (buffer tube) threads. I read the UBR installation instructions and never read about applying grease. Even watched many YouTube videos of UBR installation and none mention using grease or lube on the threads. I torqued the buffer tube to 38ft-lbs.

Should I be worried for any potential issues or am I just being overwhelmed and over thinking?

You're over thinking it. I've seldom greased the extension threads unless they've been tight on the test fit.

Thanks brother. Google is an evil thing.

Torquing down the buffer tube on the UBR is not near as critical as a standard tube. I don't really see any way way it can come loose because of the way it goes together. I do put a little grease on all my threads that dont get loctited. Thats one because I'm constantly putting on and taking off parts. and the easier the better. I also put a little oil on the tube . Some times the outer tube will bind on it if you don't.

It's always a good idea to put a dab of anti seize grease on aluminum threads. I usually just keep a couple of the little packets around like you can buy off the counter at Autozone.  Reduces the risk of galling.

I do. Something I never really thought about though until you brought it up is shouldn't anodizing also reduce the risk of galling?

It should, but sometimes it's thin and can wear through.  Especially on threads.  An ounce of prevention...
