Why not just level them out with each other (like with the SG550 mags)? Serious question - is it just looks or is there a practical purpose to staggering them?

Yeah...the explanation we got from the photographer for that one was that "the PMAG names showed up better when staggered that way", and it went straight to web without proofing due to deadlines stacking up. It was caught and fixed, but not before being immortalized by going live.
