I purchased several 30-round gen 2 mags for my AR, and they didn't come with dust covers. Recently I purchase two 20-round Gen 3 mags that came with dust covers. The dust covers work perfectly on the 20-round mags, but will not snap securely when tried on my gen 2 mags. It appears the back of the feed lips on the gen 3 mags are different from gen 2's not allowing the dust cover to interchange.
So, are there gen 2 dust covers made to fit the gen 2 mags, or am I missing something that I should know???? Learning as I go I guess! |
| When Magpul release the M3 30 round mags, the M2s were rebranded as part of the MOE line of products. As part of that change the price was dropped and the dust cover was no longer included. These are available separately from Magpul and as you know are not interchangeable with the M3s |

Yeah - I just bought a 10-pack of Gen 2s and noticed that as well. I thought one of the selling features of the dust covers was that they pushed the rounds down in the mag to take the pressure off the feed lips when a mag is left loaded. Is this not necessary any more? Was that more of an issue with the Gen 1 mags? Or was it just a marketing thing that wasn't really necessary in the first place? The last time I bought Pmags (or any AR15 mags for that matter), the windowed Pmags had just come out. |
