After reading the differences In this stickied thread I learned my MS3 sling was fake. So I ordered one from a reputable dealer and snapped some pics of the two side by side.
The magnet stuck to the clips of the real one, not the fake one. The fake one has a glossier finish on the clips. The overall feel of the real one seems of much higher quality. The plastic semi circle piece seems a lot more solid, and the back of it there is an 09 on the left, and the fake one does not have that. The stitching is close but different. The real one is a shade darker. The grey area on the packaging wore off on the fake one, or was printed real bad. Well, here are the pics. The real one is always on the left.

I just picked up a second sling and had the package in the trash can. There is a sticker over the original UPC because it is easier for them to produce the packaging for the basic product (black) and just slap a UPC on a sticker for the different color combination(s). I've noticed this on several other products as well.
Also about the packaging, the color seems to be off, correct? There seems to be a lack of greyish color as compared to the ASAP packaging. And without going into detail, there's a few things I already see in the sling that doesn't look right, which you probably already know because of the pics you posted. |

Hmm...I ordered a MS3 from BravoCompanyUSA last week and it came with the packaging on the right (fake?) They don't seem like a company that would sell fakes, but should I be concerned? |

| So...is Magpul going to run a special ops mission on the factories making these knockoffs? The logo is there, honestly I would have a real hard time distinguishing, then feel like magpul sucks when it breaks. They should just kick the door in and destroy their machines for copying their label. |

Magpul licenses THE FAKE STUFF WITH THEIR LABLE ON IT to China as airsoft/ TRAINING .... Magpul states all PTS items are for airsoft and simulation ONLY. .... decided to produce all of their airsoft products through their PTS line MAGPUL PROFESSIONAL TRAINING & SIMULATION DIVISION ..... Now class can any one tell us why Magpul did this? Why would they do this?????????

And I bet all those kiddies love to feel like warriors with magpul everything. |
| Damn the fake is good it would be hard to tell the real thing from the fake thing. I have a to wonder about how many rifles being peddled out there have the training stuff instead of the real stuff. Are the stock fakes that close? How can one tell a fake from a real stock? |
|
Interesting. The color hue is a little off on the fake, but without a genuine it would be hard to notice I guess. Is there any sites out there that should be avoided/are known to sell fakes, or mislable PTS as "Genuine"? I'm guessing places like BCM, Brownells, Ranier, Optics Planet etc would be good to go yeah? I must admit, our local version of your eBay, a site called Trademe, is full of "Genuine Magpul PTS" items. Always have me a snigger when I see them. Its the ones that aren't as openly stupid that are concerning. |

Because by requiring the parts to be marked PTS we informed the user that they are not real Magpul firearms products. This actually worked out good for a number of years by giving the counterfeiters competition in their own market. Lately though the problem has required a much more "comprehensive" approach involving legal action and US customs confiscation. |
