In one of the picture threads, I remember seeing a dissipator with a black/fde rifle handguard (black top piece, fde bottom piece).

Has anyone else done this? Looking for pictures to see if I want to go that route.

Do you currently have an FDE handguard?  If so, just take it apart and use black RIT dye to turn whichever half you want black .
I haven't done it, but I've considered doing it if I get the MOE handguard.  People have had great success with RIT dye on FDE Magpul products.

I've heard of the Rit dye route, but hadn't thought about doing it.

Does the black take well or is it faded?

Or you could buy/trade for a lower or upper handuard of the color you'd like and mix/match.

This is what I had originally planned to do.

Everything I have read and seen suggests that the black does work very well with the FDE parts.  I used black dye on black mags that were very worn and they came out looking like new.  Holding up well too.
