[ARCHIVED THREAD] - modify moe handguard?

I'm thinking of removing/filing the ledge in the front bottom of the moe handguard. The reason for that is to be able to mount L3 light/laser as forward as possible in the 6 o'clock position using the original magpul cantilever rail mount.

Will it heart the strength of the hand guard?
any other options?

Its the carbine length, and with the vertical grip the light hitting my hand when using the small rail section in the front bottom...

I always thought it was a mini handstop. If you grip the gun further back its not an issue. $25 to get a replacement if you F it up. File away.

That does look pretty handy, Most would have just mounted it to the sie of handguard tho.
