"Hey, my (insert barrel name here) got DIRTY after I shot it!! What the heck is up with that? I replaced it with a (insert other barrel company name here)."
Seriously? We've got 5 MP-5's assigned to our SWAT Team, after a typical summer training day (in Texas) they get wiped down, cleaned and put away, and I STILL have to take them out a couple of days later to make sure rust isn't forming due to the copious amounts of sweat and other moisture that can get onto/into guns and crevices. |
I have some rust, and that rusted!!!
This thread makes me think of the B-52's... "TIN ROOF!!!... rusted!!!" Here is the cure: Rusty Nail 1 1/2 oz Scotch whisky 1/2 oz Drambuie® Scotch whisky 1 twist lemon peel Pour the scotch and drambuie into an old-fashioned glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with the lemon twist. http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink4306.html |

All Magpul steel parts are Mil Spec Mag-Phosphate finished. They should rust at the same rate as the other steel parts on a military M16.
That said we are switching over most steel parts to a Melonite finish which is harder wearing and more corrosion resistant than Mag-Phosphate. |

You mean Spike's Tactical was right in making all their stuff with a melonite coating? I thought someone there just liked melons. |
