How about Magpul 1911 grips with the same textured grip surface?
How about MOE hand stops? How about AK47 lower handguards (ie think Bulgy) with spots for small rails for weapon light mount or VFG or AFG? How about "skeletonized" XTM panels for added grip and cool factor? I would be willing to be the guinea pig for any of the above products, especially the 1911 grips and rail handstops. Thank you for your time. |

I'm down with some 1911 grips for sure. I'm telling ya! Fairly easy to engineer and the grip surface would be great. There are a lot of grip makers, but magpul can produce these in fairly large enough volume that they could beat the snot out of the competition as far as price. They could tweak the recipe and make thin grips and standard grips. They could easily mold their logo on the side, no logo, bunny of death or a twinky/cupcake combo set.
Handstop market is also now pretty full of competition, so price would be the defining edge. |

I am completely against the 1911 grips.
I have a MOE grip on my AR build that's 100% great, but on a 1911 that plastic would feel cheap. I'm not calling out magpul's product, it's more if calling out what a 1911 needs. Sure, if they were to make a G10 grip or rubber wraparounds similar to pachmayr I'd be all for them, otherwise leave the grips alone. Where it would be right would be if they were to team up with a company like HK, Glock, S&W, FN, ect. and from the beginning have a mold for a polymer framed pistol replacing the company's standard checkering/stippling with the MOE's little magpul logos. It's have to be an all Magpul specual edition run, and that'd be pretty cool...but not useful. Magpul, I think you're doing a fine job guiding yourselves. Please keep up the good work and I look forward to whatever new products you have coming out. |

If the texture is right, they would have approx the same feel as the VZ grips. The polymer they use seams to be dense enough to do well as grips. In theory the development would not be that extensive as they are slabs with cuts and beveled edges. I could see the profit margin with these being quite high even if sold for $20 a set. |

So, you're telling Magpul, "Don't listen to your customers"? Yes, If they listened to their customers on a FORUM then they'd be over expanded and have EVEN MORE products that we are WAITING on and the timeframe between releases of colors and runs of different products would be even worse, and most likely we'd see a drop in quality. Magpul makes parts that work well. They are NOT a large company by any means and they are privately owned. Some joe schmoe schmuck on ARFCOM wanting his AK or 1911 to match his magpul-ed AR when he's at the range is not why magpul makes their products...or so that's my understanding. If magpul is going to release something, it'll probably be tested by the Dynamics guys and people who use their gear in the field such as Law Enforcement/Militay/Private Contractors. We get their trickle down. That process worked for Granpa Reagan, its also how we get new automobile technology; it trickles down from race programs like Formula 1. It'll work for me and my guns. Again, keep up the good work, Magpul. I look forward to more of Dr. Drake's sig lines. |
no offense, but if they say they aren't going to make them another time...the answer will still be no
