| Quick question about practicing the urban prone position. If I run out of ammo while in this position what would be the most efficient way to reload the weapon if my secondary where under me. Or should my secondary not even be an option there. Thoughts? |

I'll work it backwards...
I would say your secondary is always an option. You just have to know which you'd be more efficient at accomplishing...Positively controlling your primary to roll and draw your secondary or reload your primary? If you shoot both rifle and pistol with the same hand (i.e. Not rifle lefty and pistol righty) if you are urban prone and your pistol is under you, your primary weapon mags will be exposed ( I suppose I should say "should be"). A mag change in the urban prone is not really that difficult...just requires practice. All the fundamentals are the same. Try both ways out and see which you feel like you could accomplish effectively under stress. Also take into consideration being urban prone on your other side and what you would do in that situation where your pistol is now exposed. My .02 Saty safe |
| On the lines of reloads...where are you guys placing your mags if your a right handed rifle shooter and a left handed pistol shooter. I normally place my pistol on my left hip (not a drop leg) and would like to place my mags in the same area in a Kydex set up. What do you suggest? |

I'm a right handed shooter so my rifle mags are directly in the middle on my vest and my pistol mags to the left of that. My right side is completely slick.
Since you are right handed rifle/left handed pistol, you could run rifle mags up front and center as well and pistol mags on your right side. I try to avoid running mags in a place that I would have to reach too far across my body to access. My .02 |
| same here, two primary mags on kydex (left hip), three primary mags low torso, and three pistol mags to the left of the three primary. Personally drop leg is good for the secondary weapon its self but horrible for mags. In my opinion I would like to get Chris or Travis's input on this matter. I guess the biggest part would fall to three options 1) Reload, 2) Check drill reload, 3) Secondary weapon implantation. Its all situation dependent. |
