| To my knowledge there isn't one of these yet, so let's get it going. |

Airsoft version is out http://www.precisionairsoft.com/A-K-Magpul-Masada-A-K-AEG-05-TAN-p/akr202.htm That appears to be based on the Masada prototypes, which are 3? 4? revisions behind by now. It is probably also an unlicensed product. |

The tolerances and materials on Airsoft products are, shall we say, less complicated. |

Can you imagine the looks you'd get from the AR crowd? (although I've no idea how cheap they look outwardly). |

Because when announced, was not the Masada touted as being developed in a shot period of time? And how long ago was that? The working prototype, using hand fitted parts and rapid prototyping plastics, was developed in 90 days. That's awfully fast for a proof of concept from a small design firm like Magpul. However, going from those initial prototypes to a fully manufacture-ready, soldier-tested individual weapon system takes years of effort. There just isn't any way to shortcut this, especially if the effort is self-funded (meaning no .gov money) and not specifically tied to a contractable program. For airsoft, Magpul could have done the R&D and been to market in 90 days. Components, batteries, barrels, etc, are all standardized. It would just have been packaging everything into an ACR-looking shell. |
| The big problem I think for Magpul was finding someone to make the Masada . It is not the development of the rifle as its not revolutionary and is very similar to the SCAR, who if any one(FN) will fill military orders before this rifle will. And that is why I think it is taking time. I do hope it is a sale successes for all involved. |
