I bought a MOE grip when they first came out but never got around to installing it. I finally got my MOE handguards so I'm getting ready to completely MOE my new Stag carbine (stock, hanguard, grip). I love the MOE accessories and PMAGS. Magpul is awesome.
Have they made any design changes or upgrades to the MOE grip since they first came out? The core seems a little loose. Came with a plain screw with a little blue loctite on it. Any pointers for installation? Use the plain screw that came with it or reuse the screw with the locknut? How tight to screw the screw? |

I installed FDE MOE furniture on my Stag, and like it much better than the M4 furniture.
Use the grip screw that came with the grip, and screw it down as tight as you can. Don't reuse the A2 grip screw with locknut. I would take some, or most of the loctite off the new grip bolt, as it is a booger to screw down tight if you don't. |

You tighten the screw until it doesn't move anymore. Unfortunately for one lower I had the grip was still loose when 2 standard Magpul issue screws wouldn't move anymore. On that one I used an allen head and locknut out of a new LPK which worked great.
With that being said, I used a flathead on my other lower with a MOE grip without any issue. So to sum it up, try to use the Magpul supplied screw, but if you're having trouble, use the allen head and put on some loctite. |

So, is it pretty hard to overtighten the screw and mess up the receiver?
You can use any grip screw or are some too long? Any changes or upgrades to the MOE grip since introduction? Like I said before, the core seems a little loose. Seems like I read this was an early problem. |

I installed the MOE grip on my Stag lower without incident this afternoon. I REALLY like it. Ergonmics are great. I like it better than the MIAD.
I installed it with the screw that came with the grip without removing any blue loctite. It did take some effort to screw it in. I guess it isn't going anywhere, though. The grip fit tight on the receiver - a perfect fit. My Stag is now completely MOE'd - grip, stock, handguards ...and pmags of course. It looks, feels and functions great. Thanks Magpul. My biggest concern with installation was cross threading or stripping the receiver threads. Didn't seem to be an issue as long the extra effort required to install the screw with the blue loctite didn't do any damage. I'm new to changing out parts on my ARs. |
Every bolt/FP core I've used has been loose. They stay in but feel like they barely lock up. The 3 round cores from the MIADs fit well. They are re-working the molds for the cores (or at least the bolt/pin ones). Hopefully they fit better whenever they start making them again. Have had one on backorder for a couple months now.

It's been a few months since I installed it, and I really like the MOE grip with ONE exception.
The standard grip core keeps falling out on me. Luckily, I found it on the floor at the range on my last trip. Are they making them more secure now? Will Magpul send you a replacement? Is there an easy way to secure the core inside the grip? I don't store anything it. It just covers the bottom of the grip. I purchased my MOE grip as soon as they were introduced. |
