A certain vendor (not Brownells) of Pmags is blaming Magpul for no communicating to said vendor about shipment dates of mags. This vendor has people (including myself) on back order since at least November/December 2008. This vendor has not been communicating with their customers on the back order. To this vendor's credit, they have not charged anyone for the magazines.
At the same time, I know of 2 other vendors who just started selling Pmags in March 2009 and were able to sell a large quantity of them. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? |

Being a Magpul distributor here is what i have been able to deduce from what we have been recieving. They seem to run them in LARGE runs. Since we mostly get in black and FDE I would surmise that they seem to run those more than Foliage or OD. While we do get them in FOl and OD we don't get nearly as many as we do in the other two colors. Same goes for CTR's and MIAD's.
None of this info was gathered at Magpul and no Magpul employees were harmed in the making ofthis post. :D |
| What you guys should be doing in the mean time is still looking and scoop them up when you can. There have been several PMAG in stock alerts here in the last few months, and they are available all the time in the EE. I have had a barrel on order since the beginning of January with CMMG. When I found another barrel available, though it wasn't the exact type I ordered, I jumped on it. I ended up finishing that build much quicker that I thought I'd be able to. I still have that barrel on order though. |

Just use DSGARMS.com they get them in almost daily and ship the next day. Really..... I know dealers(and distributors) that haven't seen a pmag shipment in like 9 or 10 months. What are they doing..giving kickbacks or something? I used to work retail in the comics and baseball card shop era of the 80's and 90s. When something hot and low-run was produced demand would go up and create a buzz. Direct orders from the manufacturer were nice, but often you only got a limited quanity. From that point you had to go to distributors. The more distributors you had the more supply you could access even when each company was limited to say.. 2 cases of upper deck super visual pop-up hologram wizbang cards of death. The trick of it was being buddy buddy with my large number of distributors. That means I spent a large part of my day calling up sales reps and talking to them about what was "coming in soon" and making sure they knew I wanted a lot of what was going to be a hot seller. That also meant... I had to buy a bunch of their other crap so that my order requests for the good stuff were always at the top of their stack. So I'd order a bunch of topps crap they had a ton of, to keep my purchase levels up, and make damn certain they'd lock me in on a sizeable quantity of the hot products. When other shops in my area were out of stock.. I'd still be rolling. I imagine it is the same way in the firearms business for the retailers. |
| I called a few shops not too long ago, and the smaller shops I called that I've never heard of because they don't have a web site all had them in stock. I'm assuming they get them from distributors, but I obviously don't know for sure. They were higher than MSRP, but they had them. |

I got an e-mail today that had said Brownells put my order on "preferred notify" because Magpul is "unable to supply." I ordered them beginning of January, 10 FDE windowless. Guess I'll just have to find them elsewhere, oh well. At least I got to order my sling today. |

Wow... you have been waiting since nov?
I'm don't want to come off as high or mighty.. but this is how I've gotten my hands on 21 pmags in the last few weeks... 1st thing i would do is cancel all of your back orders with those other companys because you don't want a surprise on your doorstep one day. 2nd i would get very comfortable with http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdisplay.php?f=9.net/ I check this site constantly... there is a feature that emails me for deal alerts... Create an alert for pmags. Done... I've bought some for gotimegear.com, bravocompanyusa.com, and palmettostatearmory.com I had bought 10FDE, then sold 4, bought 5 Black, another 5 Black, and then WTH got another 5 Black. All of them were with window. Sit and wait approach is fine, but I see some people have been waiting for along time... |
