Can Magpul say anything about the progress of the Army carbine trials, or are they under NDA?

No NDA, they don't tell us much.

So how does it work? You give them a few carbines, and they run off and use them? Or are the manufacturers involved in the testing ?

It would be funny if they just kept replying,

"As for now we are not releasing any information on trials that may or may not be in the works. We're always looking for new ways to improve on infantry carbines and explore the boundaries of new ideas. Thanks."

The army does a test,AGAIN... Finds out AGAIN that there hasn't been a gun invented that actually provides a significant improvement in combat effectiveness... And settles on another iteration of the M4.

And you would know this how?

Regardless, Bushmaster is out of their mind if they still think the ARMY is going to give them a hug and a few hundred million dollars anytime soon (if ever). Here's to hoping the production time line figures in the contract with Magpul are due soon.

Yeah, yeah, but this is actually about the Army's goings-on, not Magpul's.

I'm just curious about what's involved in a "carbine competition". Does the army come back once a week and say "give me another sling loop there, and put some skate tape on that pistol grip"? Or do they take the weapons, disappear for six months to area 51, then return and say "your weapon scored 8.7, and the improved M4 carbine scored 8.8. Good day."

Because they've done it MANY times since the M16 was adopted.....

The end result is always either 'no significant improvement' or something similar....

I actually should have clarified. I thought it would be funny if the Army kept telling that to Magpul.
