Not saying that I've come across any (but I do have some questions) - but I did a search on this forum and came up empty.
I've had a half dozen or so PMags for a while and never got around to picking up more. Last week, I was in a local fun shop and they had 6 on the shelves at about original pre-inflation prices ($16 or so). I snatched up all of them and got home. I'm in and out of there a couple of times a week and they've never had any before. They were in the clear plastic sleeves but had no cardboard inserts. Comparing them to my known good PMags, they looked identical, had the new feedlip gauge covers and seemed legit. Various late-date stamps, and they all had the number "2" appearing under the date stamp. NONE of the followers had any stamping, "5.56" or the Magpul emblem or otherwise. I went back today and they had 4 more. Snatched them up at $18 a mag as well. These also had unmarked followers and the same packaging (clear ziplock with no cardboard insert). These had even later date stamps (a couple of them were marked 12/08) but they had a "1" under the date stamp. Questions: 1) I know the marking of followers changed for regular magpul antitilt's, did this also change for the PMag followers? 2) I assumed the "1" and "2" under the date stamps denoted "generations", but the later mags had the 1's and the earlier mags had the 2's - so are these markings indicative of which molds were used or some other significance? 3) The lack of the little informational inserts in the packaging - is this normal? Did I get secondhand PMags? The dealer says he doens't remove the inserts, but the owner was not there to ask where he orders from. They're very obviously new, not used. I haven't heard of anyone marketing counterfeits, and I don't really think these are, but there are enough little discrepancies to make me wonder - and the market is SURELY ripe for this scam... Any input? Thanks, Hellbent |

I got pmags from Brownells and they came in clear, non-resealable plastic bags with no cardboard insert. I had older ones with the insert in ziptop bags. I'm pretty sure it was done to save cost and time. That's kinda what I figured (and hoped). Nice to know that others have gotten them the same way from reputable dealers. |

I'm pretty sure it was done to save cost and time. In that vein, an SKU for un-assembled, un-deflashed mags in bulk might be nice to streamline things for folks willing to buy and bulk and perform final assembly themselves. Or maybe just separate bags of bodies, followers, bases, springs, etc. |
