I picked up a used PMAG and took it apart to check the internals but I did not check which way the spring way set. Is there a certain direction it needs to go or am I ok with putting back in any which way?

One end has a littl bend to go in the follower. It should go in that way.

It looks like the spring I have is not a Magpul; there is no "bend" in either end. I guess that was what's gumming up the follower.

Can you post a picture?  It seems odd that someone would replace the spring, but I guess that may be why they were selling it....
