I was contemplating purchasing a middy rifle kit when, to my surprise, Del-Ton offered me the option of a mid-length lightweight barrel! (Or chrome lined heavy, which I'm used to seeing.)
Now, all you guys need to do is chrome line them and I'm in! Failing that, I'd even go with a Government profile middy barrel, if you had it in chrome. Edit for corrections! |
| I wish they would offer all their lightweight barrel uppers chrome lined. I have a chrome lined middy and while it is a heavy barrel and shoots great if it was lighter it would be nice. I'm waiting for them to sell chrome lined lightweight 20" uppers. When they do I'm buying one. Mark |

Mark If their 20" lightweight had a true A1 profile and chrome lining, it would probably be a big seller over on the retro forum. It would make Del-Ton the only seller of a new production chrome lined A1 barrel. How does your Middy HBAR compare to a 20" Gov't profile? |

I've got their 20" lightweight A2 setup - I would LOVE to have a chrome lined bore and chamber, oh well.
My next will be a 16" middy that has chrome lined - DelTon really should look into offering chrome lining on ALL of their barrel options, I bet a lot of people will put an extra $45 on uppers and rifle kit orders. Heck, my buddy's that I just put together - he went for a heavy barrel simply because they didn't offer a chrome lined light weight (but he really prefers how my lightweight handles). |

I haven't handled a 20" Gov"t profile barrel to compare but del-ton doesn't have those chrome lined either. I'm just looking for a lightweight upper that has the front sight farther down the barrel. I wear bifocals and I have a hard time focusing on the front sight post. My carbine front sight looks fuzzy, my middy is better but a 20" would be the best. I just don't want a heavy barrel to get the chrome lining. Mark |

I like the dissipator but those aren't chrome lined either. I think I heard they were a heavy barrel profile too. As for the weight of my middy, I have the basic kit with carry handle so the weight isn't bad. Now if your going to start hanging other stuff on there the weight would begin to add up. Here's from a search I did. It looks like a 16" heavy barrel middy would probably be one third to maybe a half a a pound heavier than the 20" gov't profile. The numbers are in lbs.
