Well, the time has come for me to start thinking about my options.  I am supposed to EAS in under 1 year, or I can extend for the boat (CVN).  I just recently got off of leave, and really loved being home, and for the first time in a while, I never got bored.  Now back here at work is a different story, I am almost to the point where I do not want to wake up to go into work.  I have had some great time in the USMC, but things have started to get really stupid in my shop.  I already have an associates degree in HVAC, and I have been told that I have a job when I get back, by several different business owners.  I really think it is time for me to get back to life, and get mine back in order.  Extending for the cruise would do many things for me in the short run though.  I would finally get the combat deployment that I have been begging for (for the last 3 years), and the chunk of money that I would leave with would really help me get back on my feet.  I have several personal problems back at home, and I feel that they really need my attention and constant being-thereness.  I dont usually get very serious here, but I think I need some 3rd party perspective on this issue.

Sincerely,
Patrick

My little cousin

Family is VERY important.  Have you considered the Reserves if you think it may still be in your system a little bit?

Been thinking about it, but I am overweight, so that makes things harder.  I was looking at the MO NG, doing something like Combat Engineers.

If you've got problems at home, then a combat deployment is only going to amplify them, and you should really tend to those first and think of the long run as opposed to the short term. Take it from me buddy... deploying while you've got trouble at home is bad juju.

Yeah, but I basically always have problems at home, and I made it through my last deployment (Japan) just fine.  I dont know, I might still do it, but there is going to be some serious thought before I do/dont sign the papers.

They will probably let you in anyway.  I retire Guard next April.  I'd at least talk to them.
