I have something similar to the below picture. What would be good to frame it in? Its all faded and fragile and I MUST preserve it.

I would have a shadow box made for it to keep the dust off. SS

I would do this, but add some sort of rubber seal between the glass and frame to prevent air getting in there. Maybe some hidden descecant also, since it sounds a little older.

I would lose the stick and lay it flat between two pieces of plate glass.

If you need to keep the stick, then I would have a piece of glass, flag, then a "non acid/running" cloth or the like (just to protect it), then sandwiched by a thin piece of foam, all in a frame.

Maybe talk to a museum if one is local

Here is the flag I have. It was for my Grandfather and Great Uncle. As you can see the red is totally faded out.

When you get the box, or when you're having it made, make sure that you get archival
glass (I think that's what they call it). It's coated to keep out UV rays, which is what fades
the material.

I have some artist-proof prints that I had the frame's glass swapped out with this so the
sun won't fade the colors. Kinda pricey but worth the $$.
